Small portions

Gastric Bypass Effect Stomach clearWith limited stomach capacity, you need to serve yourself much smaller food portions. During the regimen, eat very slowly and wait 30 seconds between bites. You will be amazed how little you need to eat to feel satisfied.

Remember: your stomach is already occupied with the Bariatric Surgery ALTERNATIVE formula so when you eat more than small portions you will be stretching your stomach. That is counter productive to your goal of shrinking the stomach muscle.Stomach stretch

While eating, you can not immediately feel the effects of overeating which impact you about 30 to 60 minutes after you have finished your meal. Aside from overly stretching your stomach you might feel a bloated stomach, gases or diarrhea.

9 hour eating span

You may eat only during a 9 hour span of the day. That is, you can only eat in a span of 9 hours from your first food intake of the day till the last food intake. Consuming the Bariatric Surgery ALTERNATIVE dose in the morning does not count as a meal.

You should not eat ANYTHING 4 hours before the time you fall asleep. Example: if you fall asleep at 11 pm, your last food intake, of any kind, will be at 7pm.

Our medical team explains: Assuming that the average client is about 45 kg (100 lbs) overweight and weighs about 118 kg (260 lbs), this equates to 6 kg (13 lbs) a month or 13% total body weight reduction. Fasting burns fat (Harvie 2011) as it enhances hormone function. Lower insulin levels and higher growth hormone levels increase the breakdown of body fat (Wilcox 2005). For this reason, short-term fasting increases the metabolic rate by 3.6 to 14%, helping burn even more calories (Zauner 2000, Mansell 1990).

No dairy

Cheeses, milk, yogurt etc. can cause bloating stomach, gases or even diarrhea. Cheeses and milk are also very fattening and are counterproductive to your healthy weight goal. Even low fat milk is still high in calories.

Replace milk with the healthier almond milk, which is also rich in nutrients.

Dairy products increase inflammatory indices (Dandona 2004) and is significantly associated with weight gain (Berkey 2005).

Our medical team explains: Dairy includes any products from a bovine mammal, including but not limited to milk, yoghurt, cream, cheese, ice cream and chocolate. Full fat dairy products typically contain >4% fat per 100g of product, and their low fat alternatives contain less fat but generally more sugar. Research has proven links between dairy, inflammation and weight gain.

Stopping Weight Gain

  • Milk consumption significantly increases body mass index (BMI) (p<0.05) (Berkey 2005).
  • Dairy products contain estrone, one of the estrogen hormones, which may increase body weight (Remesar 1999). Estrogen plays an important role modulating energy expenditure, and decreases accumulation of ectopic lipids (João 2013).
Sleep 7-8 hours

You can lose another 0.5 lb during the 8th hour of your sleep. Check it by weighing yourself before you fall asleep and again when you wake up.

Our medical team explains:  men and women consume 15.3% and 9.2% more calories, respectively, when deprived of sleep (from an average 8 hours per night to 4 hours per night) (St-Onge 2011). For an average intake of 1,900 calories per day, this can lead to a weight gain of 250g to 500g (0.55 lb to 1 lb) per week, and 13 kg to 26 kg (28 lbs to 57 lbs) per year.

Avoid caffeine

AVOID / limit caffeine as it intensifies cravings and can be destructive to the regimen. Caffeine drinks such as coffee, soda and some teas increase cravings and are counterproductive to your weight loss goal. However, decaf coffee and tea are ok to drink. Cream should be substituted with 2% milk and be used to the minimum.

Our medical team explains: Caffeine suppresses leptin, a hormone responsible for increased metabolism of fats and satiety (Westerterp-Plantenger 2005). Caffeine, the world’s most psychoactive substance (Mednick 2008) is a stimulant of the central nervous system (Nehlig 1992), found in coffee, specific teas, chocolate and energy drinks. Whilst caffeine may increase alertness and mental concentration, it also has negative side effects such as anxiety, disrupted sleep and dehydration which will affect long term weight loss goals (Snel 2011).

5-6 water bottles

WaterTo maintain the Gastric Bypass Effect, you need to drink at least 6 bottles of 16 oz (10-12 glasses) of water throughout the day. Not drinking enough water can cause dehydration, headache or other complications.

Our medical team explains: assuming GBA’s 260 lbs average client with 100 lbs overweight, drinking 3 liters a day, will result in 7 lbs, or 7%, weight reduction over one year.

Water intake effects on weight loss

  • Drinking one liter of water (2 bottles) before each main meal results in 2 kg (4.5 lbs) weight loss over twelve weeks in overweight, middle-aged and older adults (Dennis 2010).
  • 7 kg (15.5 lbs) weight loss over twelve weeks when consuming 500ml (1 bottle) of water thirty minutes before each main meal with low calorie diet (Dennis 2010). Reductions were also observed in BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and triglyceride concentrations (Dennis 2010).
  • Drinking 500ml (one bottle) of water burns 12.4 calories more than drinking 500ml of an alternative non-caloric drink, such as diet drinks  (Boschmann 2003). Drinking a total of 3 liters per day, in 500ml (one bottle) increments spread out throughout the day, would burn 75 calories more than drinking an alternative non-caloric drink. This would result in 8.7 kg (19 lb) weight loss per year (Boschmann 2003).

Avoid junk food

AVOID all fried or greasy foods (hamburgers, french fries and all fast type fried foods). They cause a bad reaction with the regimen such as gases or diarrhea.

Almond milk

Replace milk with the healthier almond milk, which is also rich in nutrients and is much better for your diagestive system.

Cheeses, milk, yogurt etc. can cause bloating stomach, gases or even diarrhea. Cheeses and milk are also very fattening and are counterproductive to your healthy weight goal. Even low fat milk is still high in calories.

Night urination

You will stop any food intake 4 hours before you fall asleep and only drink water. Expect to urinate more during the night while on the regimen which will reduce your weight by about 1 lb for each urination (16 oz).

Shock your body (exercise)

Serious about reducing your weight?

Your body needs to be “shocked” into new existence of survival where you must be “light and fit.” When exercising, your body releases endorphins that energize your mood, relieve stress, boost your self-esteem, and trigger an overall sense of well-being. Walk fast or exercise 30 to 90 min a day to signal to your brain that your body needs to transform to a leaner you.

Your mind’s commitment to the regimen will double your weight loss rate. Immobile people should exercise much more. Limited mobility doesn’t mean you can’t exercise. Find ways to exercise within your limitations: Read1 and Read2

Weight loss progress

Keep a journal. Weigh yourself as you wake up (after you went to the bathroom and before consuming the formula dose). You should have lost about 1-4 lbs as your fat (molecule C55H104O6) breaks down and has left your body in 2 forms: 16% as water (52H2O via urine) and 84% as 55CO2 in your night breathing.

Weigh yourself before go to sleep.

You should aim to lose almost 1 pound per day. If not, ask yourself what have you done wrong. Learn and be tune to your body.
