Developed a comprehensive bariatric treatment program (South Texas Bariatrics) in Corpus Christi, Texas at
Corpus Christi Medical Center with extensive nursing and OR personnel training, dedicated anesthesiology and
OR team, nutritional and psychological support team; first surgeon in Texas trained in LapBandTM placement after
FDA approval; first surgeon in south Texas to perform LapBandTM and lap-RYGB procedures. Areas of
proficiency include general and advanced laparoscopic surgical practice including upper and lower endoscopy,
laparoscopic inguinal and ventral/incisional hernias, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, laparoscopic Nissen
fundoplication, endoscopic gastric fundoplication (TIF), laparoscopic colon resection, laparoscopic R-Y gastric bypass and the Lap-BandTM procedures for morbid obesity, laparoscopic small bowel resection/bypass, pediatric surgery, surgical intensive care and trauma, anorectal disorders.
